Idwal Brian Bessant (1939-)

Brian Bessant was educated at Cardiff College of Art (NDD 1961; ATD 1962) and later at St Michael's College, Llandaff (Dip.Th.1968). As an Anglican priest he served parishes in Glamorgan, Breconshire and Cyprus (1980-83), where he became particularly interested in the theology and writing of icons. On returning to Wales, he became a noted icon painter. Examples of his work can be found in churches in south Wales including Brecon Cathedral and St Mary's, Swansea.
