Church opened as Trinity Wesleyan Church in 1901 to replace a modest building of 1890, at a cost of nearly £10,000. The adoption of Decorated Gothic was a conscious rejection of Welsh chapel tradition and an assertion of a distinct Anglicised Nonconformist identity. The architect was an Anglican, Henry Budgen.
