Church in existence by the twelfth century, when it was granted to Pill Priory, Milford Haven by Adam de la Rupe, builder of the 'new castle'. Fabric repaired 1806, 1842-43, and then rebuilt by E.H. Lingen Barker, Diocesan Architect, between 1870 and 1875. Porch added 1870. Font twelfth century from original church. Chancel enlarged 1870.
What is outstanding in this little church is the unified series of stained glass windows commissioned from 1990 onwards from staff and former students of the Department of Stained Glass at the Swansea Institute, and inspired by the 1962 east window by Roy Lewis, a former lecturer there. Little Newcastle is one of the few churches in Wales to house such a unified collection of modern glass - others would be the John Petts windows in the Catholic Church at Gorseinon and those by Frank Roper in the Catholic Church at Newcastle Emlyn, along with those by Amber Hiscott (also formerly Swansea Institute) in the Catholic church and shrine at Cardigan.
