Norman foundation. Some twelfth century work. Remodelled fifteenth century. Restored 1877 after a fire by J.P. Seddon. A further, highly destructive, fire occurred in 1949, when east and west windows by Kempe (1888 & 1895) were lost. The interior was rebuilt 1953-5 by G.G. Pace to a completely new, and for that date, innovative design.
