Ceri Richards (1903-1971)

Welsh painter and designer. Ceri Giraldus Richards was born in Dunvant, Swansea, and from 1921 attended Swansea School of Art before studying at the Royal College of Art in London between 1924 and 1927. In London his work became increasingly influenced by the European avant-garde, and by the 1950s Ceri Richards was the most internationally-celebrated Welsh painter of his generation.
