I am the Resurrection and the Life
Photo © Martin Crampin, Imaging the Bible in Wales | Three-light window with Christ at the centre and a soldier holding a spear crouching below, the three Marys to the left and angels on the right. An angel above holds the script: 'I am the resurrection and the life'. technique: stained glass Church of St David, Carreg-wen, Pembrokeshire It is Matthew's gospel which refers to the watch placed upon the tomb of Jesus (Matt. 27:66) and the fear of the keepers (28:4). However in the text it is not fear at the appearance of the Risen Lord, but at that of the angel of the resurrection (28:2-3). Convention only dictates this representation. |
