Designed by H. Norman Haines and built by Norman E. James Ltd 1963-4, initially as a daughter church to St Isan, Llanishen. Consecrated as a parish church in its own right in 1993, and in 2001 the parish name was amended to Parish of Christ Church, Roath Park.

For a detailed introduction to the church and photographs, including work by Frank Roper, see the church website. The church was almost entirely furnished and decorated by Frank Roper - including smaller details such as a churchwarden's staff, font cover, hymn board, shelf-supports and book-rests.
