Text with John: 'That which we have seen & heard declare we unto you' (I John 1:3).

The inscription records the gift of the window by Susan Catherine Venables, in memory of her husband Joseph Henry Venables (1813–1866).

The arrangement of the three figures echoes the traditional depiction of Mary and John at each side of Christ on the cross.
