Sir William Thomas Lewis (1837-1914)

William Thomas Lewis was a coalowner in the South Wales coalfield. He was created first Baron Merthyr of Senghenydd in 1911. He was churchwarden at the Church of St John the Baptist, Aberdare, and commissioned windows there and nearby at the Church of St Elvan, as well as at Llandaff Cathedral, Merthyr Tydfil, Pontypridd and St Issells in Pembrokeshire, where he owned Hean Castle.
