Roy Walter Coomber (born 1930)

Stained glass artist. Trained at Cox & Barnard from 1944 and attended Brighton College of Art. In about 1945 he worked as an assistant to Claude Kinder, who designed for Cox & Barnard. When Kinder went into partnership with Kenneth Barton and Albert Alderson, Coomber became apprenticed to the new firm. He subsequently worked for Goddard & Gibbs and then Wippell & Co. in Exeter. In 1979 he joined James Clark and Eaton in Bristol, which later became Solaglas Ltd. He became freelance in 1988, based in Bristol. His work is found across the south west of England.
