Blair Hughes-Stanton (1902-1981)

Born in London in 1902, Blair Hughes-Stanton was only son of Sir Herbert Hughes-Stanton, landscape painter and President of the RSPWC. Ed.Cadet Ship HMS Conway, and entered the Merchant Marine during World War I. He was educated at the Byam Shaw School of Art (1919) and Royal Academy Schools (1922) with Leon Underwood School of Painting and Sculpture. In 1926 he married Gertrude Hermes (but the marriage subsequently dissolved). He worked for the Gregynog Press between 1930 and 1933. Worked independently 1933-39. Commissioned Lieutenant RE 1939; POW 1940-45 Worked independently 1945-81. Died 1981.
