John Elwyn (1916-1997)

Born near Newcastle Emlyn and trained initially at Carmarthen School of Art 1933-7, with spells at the Royal College of Art before and after the Second World War. He worked as a graphic designer in London before moving to Portsmouth in 1948 and then Winchester in 1955 to teaching posts. Throughout his life he continued to paint his memories of life in his native Ceredigion. His work is represented in all of the major art collections in Wales.
