about 1854 Single-light window. technique: stained glass Church of St Mary, Dolgellau, Gwynedd north wall of the nave Composition ultimately inspired by Piero della Francesca's painting of around 1454. Matthew 28:4 alone mentions the guards on the tomb. Usually depicted half-asleep or blinded by the light emanating from the figure. Shown anachronistically, in the armour and with the weapons of the Middle Ages.
