A Window to Architecture

2018 Abstract two-light window. A cross, consisting of pebbles, is set across the two lights with a circle at the centre, interlocking with a square and a triangle. technique: stained glass size: 3500 x 1600 cm [approx] artist: Helen Whittaker Church of All Saints, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan north wall of the nave Given in memory of the architect Dale Owen and his son Jason. Aspects of the window are inspired by Dale Owen's work as an architect. The circle at the centre of the window contains the text 'For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God' (Hebrews 3:4), The Heavenly City is represented by the Great Hall of Aberystwyth University, with its campanile bell tower, which was designed by Dale Owen. The architectural work is emblematic of the Heavenly Jerusalem, 'the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God' (Hebrews 11:10). Further biblical references to Revelation are implied in the blue background, the clear water of life (Revelation 22:1).
