probably late nineteenth century Three-light window with standing figure of John the Baptist in the centre light and roundels with angels holding scrolls in the outer lights, set amid patterned quarries. technique: stained glass firm/studio: Shrigley & Hunt Church of St Mary, Bangor, Gwynedd south wall of the south aisle The window seems to be dated 1864 (the year that the church was built), but the style of the angels and figure of John the Baptist looks more likely to be of a later date, and very probably the work of Shrigley & Hunt who made the east window and a later south aisle window. The angel in the left-hand light appears to have suffered greater paint loss that the one in the right-hand light, and some inconsistencies in colour might point to the window being a composite work: perhaps a window of 1864 that was partly renewed and a figure added at a later date.  (ObjectID=4676 ImageID=8826) Original File Name=BangorStMary_DSC3077_53A.jpg
