The Presentation of Christ in the Temple
Photo © Martin Crampin | probably 1870s Single-light window, technique: stained glass size: 43 cm (width) firm/studio: Clayton & Bell Church of St Gastyn, Llangasty-Talyllyn, Powys north wall of the nave Text: 'Nunc Dimittis'. As with the other windows, there is no dedication in the window, but neither is there a plaque recording the donation of the window. The style of the window is very close to that of the window of Perpetua on the south side of the nave, and was probably placed at about the same time. All of the pictorial nave windows are clearly in the style of Clayton & Bell. In this scene the face of the prophetess Anna is clearly a portrait, suggesting that it is a family memorial placed by the Raikes family. |
