1874 Single-light window with a panel showing Christ holding a baby with children at his feet and with a couple and another child.technique: stained glass firm/studio: Ward & Hughes Church of St Mary & St David, Flint, Flintshire north wall of the north aisle (Church Street side of church) The text below the picture reads 'Suffer little children to come unto me'. The Latin text at the bottom of the picture translated reads 'To the Glory of the Blessed Trinity this window in memory of his benevolent servant in the ninth year of his ministry Evan Jenkins Rector of this Parish. Kind parishioners dedicated it to the Rector 1874'. The Rev. Evan Jenkins was Rector of Flint 1866-1874. He was the Rector of Flint when St David's and St Thomas's churches were built. In 1874 he moved to the Parish of Manafon in Montgomeryshire. In 1906 he returned to Flint on his retirement and died in 1916, and is buried in the Northop Road cemetery. |
