Christ Raising the Daughter of Jairus
Photo © Peter Bellis | 1874 Single-light window showing Christ taking the girl by the hand and raising her from the dead.technique: stained glass firm/studio: Ward & Hughes Church of St Mary & St David, Flint, Flintshire north wall of the north aisle (Church Street side of church) The latin text at the bottom translated reads 'To the Glory of God and in memory of my parents Roger and Margaret Evans and my children Edward and Anne Dawson'. Elizabeth Dawson gave this window in 1874 in memory of two of her four children. Elizabeth Dawson was the daughter of Robert Evans who was a Church Warden when this Church was built in 1847/8. Elizabeth married Richard Goodwin Dawson in 1841 in the old Church; he is described as a land agent and as the son of a farmer from the Prestatyn district. According to Malcombe Seaborne the window is signed 'H. Hughes, London 1874'. |
