The Ascension

However, the faculty papers show that the window was not approved and installed until 1963 (from information provided by Avril Thomas). Dedication:'To the Glory of God, and in memory of Stanley Joynson, Dental Surgeon, 1897-1959.' (left-hand light); 'Given with humility and in love and gratitude by his wife.' (right-hand light). Text at the foot of the central light: 'Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deservest; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do thy will.' The text is a prayer of St Ignatius Loyola. |
