East Window
Photo © Martin Crampin | 1461-1483, restored in or after 1864 Five-light window with four figures either side of the Crucifixion. The Virgin and Child is depicted above, and an angel with a censer, and a kneeling cleric, are also shown in tracery lights. Quarries in the lower halves of the main lights.technique: stained glass size: 33 cm (width of each light) Church of St Ust and St Dyfrig, Llanwrin, Powys east wall of the chancel Parts of the figures are replacements, and the quarry pattern has been repeated below by the restorer. The prominent use of the white rose en soleil for the ground behind the figures suggests the date of the Yorkist reign of Edward IV from 1461-83. The pattern is found in Wales elsewhere at Old Radnor. |
