about 1888 Figure kneeling with arms raised before a wooden cross set on a hill in front of the rising or setting sun.technique: stained glass size: 36 cm (width) Church of St Edmund, Crickhowell, Powys south wall of chancel Text: 'By thy cross and passion good Lord deliver us'. Given in memory of the father and mother of Arthur Richard Gabell (died 31 March 1892) and Elizabeth Gabell (died 13 May 1888). An unusual composition. The text is taken not from the Bible, but from the petitions of The Litany in the Book of Common Prayer. |
