1880 Eagle supporting the top of a lectern, standing over a serpent or dragon. medium: ceramic size: 70 cm (height) [approx] firm/studio: Doulton & Co. Church of St John, Penrhyn-coch lectern previously at: Church of St Padarn, Llanbadarn Fawr, Ceredigion An arresting blue-grey ceramic group of 1880, designed and made by the firm of Doulton & Co. of Lambeth, who employed a talented group of artists. At this date each work was unique. The works, founded in the 1820s, continued until 1956, but in 1880 were closely associated with the Arts & Crafts movement. This lectern was made for the old 'mother' church of Penrhyn-coch, Llanbadarn Fawr, and moved here at a later date.  (ObjectID=886 ImageID=2799) Original File Name=_MG_4809.jpg
