The Crucifixion with Angels
1923 Painted reredos with crucified Christ, making a blessing gesture, flanked by angels in side panels. The Christ is carved, and the angels in light relief. A shield with the chalice bearing the host with IHS monogram is added over the crucified Christ.technique: carved, painted designer: John Coates Carter Church of St Mary, Carew Cheriton, Pembrokeshire east wall of the chancel Given as a war memorial (with the altar) in memory of Thomas Carew, 3rd Baron Kesteven, Captain of the Lincolnshire Yeomanry by his mother Ethel Mary Trollope. |
