Mourning over the Dead Christ
detail from The Annunciation and Scenes from the Gospels
1926 Two-light window with the Annunciation as the main scene. Text: 'Blessed art thou among women'.technique: stained glass artist: Richard Stubington Church of St Mary the Virgin, Denbigh, Denbighshire (liturgical) north wall of the nave The window is attributed to Veronica Whall by Edward Hubbard in The Buildings of Wales: Clwyd (1986), although the bright modernist design is quite unlike her work. The attribution to Richard Stubington was originally provided by Peter Jones, citing information provided by Peter Cormack. Following the reordering of the church in around 2010, the window was moved easternwards along the north wall from its original position. |
