Blessed are the Pure in Heart for They Shall see God

1898 Three-light window with Christ seated at the centre, with disciples stood around him and men, women and children gathered to listen. technique: stained glass size: 51 cm (width of each light) firm/studio: Lavers & Westlake Church of St John, Porthmadog, Gwynedd north wall of the north aisle The window is signed 'Lavers & Westlake, London 1898'. It was unveiled in January 1899. Unlike all of the other stained glass windows in the church, it is the only one that does not carry a dedication, the only text on the window being the text across the base of the window. According to the The North Wales Chronicle, 28 January 1899, the window was given by Mr F.S. Percival, a benefactor of the church who provided for the addition of the tower and the bells that were hung in it. The male figure at the top right of the window appears to be a portrait, and is perhaps a portrait of the window's donor.  (ObjectID=5519 ImageID=10825) Original File Name=Porthmadog_DSC0116-71C.jpg
