St Michael and Fortitude

1920 Two-light window with two figures in armour. The archangel Michael overcomes the devil, and Fortitude holds a broken sword and withstands the 'fiery darts' with his large shield. technique: stained glass size: 30 cm (width of each light) firm/studio: Morris & Co. artist: William Glasby designer: John Henry Dearle Church of St Gwenfaen, Rhoscolyn, Anglesey west wall The figures were painted by William Glasby. Given in memory of Thomas Keith Hedley Rae (1889–1915), who was killed at Hooges in the First World War. A.C. Sewter's catalogue lists four further figures by Morris & Co. at the church, although they are not present.
