Dom Charles Norris (died 2004)

Benedictine monk and artist. Dom Charles Norris trained at the Royal College of Art and used his talents to work as an artist in the rebuilding of Buckfast Abbey by the Benedictine Community. Supervising a team of monks, he was responsible for the iconic east window in dalle de verre (slab glass) in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. As well as his work at Buckfast, he designed an extensive scheme in dalle de verre for numerous Roman Catholic churches including Lillington (Warwickshire), Tintagel (Cornwall) and Harlow (Essex). As well supervising the workshop at Buckfast Abbey he also had connections with the community at Prinknash, where there was also a workshop producing windows in dalle de verre.
