Richard Kyrke Penson (1816-1886)

Architect. Richard Kyrke Penson was the son of the architect Thomas Penson, and built or restored a number of churches in Shropshire, Cheshire, Hereford and Wales. He was the 'honorary' Diocesan Architect for St Davids diocese by the 1850s, when he demolished the medieval church at Llanrhidian, Gower, and rebuilt it. He had the reputation of being a radical church restorer.
