Margaret Davies (1884-1963)

Together with her sister, Gwendoline Davies Margaret Davies assembled one of the most important art collections in Britain. Inheriting the family fortune of their grandfather David Davies of Llandinam, from 1908 they bought work by French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, as well as works by English and Welsh artists and the Old Masters.
They bequeathed much of their collection to the National Museum of Wales in 1951 and 1953.
