about 1883

Three-light window with standing figures of Christ. A sleeping soldier at the feet of the resurrected Christ in the central light. Annunciation and dove of the Holy Spirit in the tracery lights.

technique: stained glass

firm/studio: Clayton & Bell

Church of St Egwad, Llanegwad, Carmarthenshire
east wall of the chancel

Perhaps by Clayton & Bell.

Gabriel bears the text 'Hail thou that art highly favoured' and Mary holds a codex, traditionally open at Isaiah 7:14. The figures of Christ as Teacher and Good Shepherd are suitable for a memorial to a priest, as here to the Revd Thomas Beynon Nicholl (1843-81), vicar of the parish.
