Peter's Commission and Cornelius Receiving the Holy Spirit

probably late nineteenth century Two-light window. technique: stained glass size: 47 cm (width) [approx] firm/studio: Clayton & Bell Church of St Peter, Glasbury, Powys west wall of the nave Texts: 'Feed my lambs Feed my Sheep'; 'Preaching peace by Jesus Christ'. Acts 10:48 indicates that Peter commanded the baptism of Cornelius and his household, yet in this depiction he is shown administering baptism himself. The depiction of Christ's call to Peter to 'feed my sheep' is also unusual. Christ is often depicted as the Good Shepherd in this scene, and he holds a shepherd's crook. However, rather than sheep or lambs, two children are shown as those symbolising the need of Peter's care.  (ObjectID=316 ImageID=1006) Original File Name=_MG_1940.jpg
