Colin Jones (1928-1967)

Welsh painter born in Newport and trained at the Newport School of Art under Thomas Rathmell. He then trained as a teacher in Cardiff where he met members of the Rhondda Group including Ernest Zobole and Charles Burton. Having gained experience as a teacher he was appointed Schools' Services Officer at the National Museum of Wales and later H. M. Inspector of Art in Wales. Many of his paintings are of the industrial landscapes and people of South Wales.
