Jusepe de Ribera (baptised 1591-1652)

Spanish Baroque painter, who worked mainly in Italy. Ribera arrived in Naples by 1616 and was influenced by Caravaggio, although after 1632 he developed a different style of looser brushwork and a brighter palette.
