about 1914
Two-light window with standing figures of Christ as the Good Shepherd and as the Light of the World.

technique: stained glass

firm/studio: probably Robert J. Newbery

Church of St Simon and St Jude, Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire
north wall

The left hand window has been set slightly off vertical.

Left-hand text: 'To the glory of God in loving memory of John Lewis of Nantgwynne in the this parish who died March 12 1896.' Right-hand text: 'of Rachael his wife who died Jan 10 1874. This window was erected by their only daughter Annie E Lewis.'

The window is likely to have been commissioned after 1914, when the windows were probably renewed. A date of about 1900 is assumed in The Buildings of Wales: Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

Miss A.E. Lewis left £200 to the Representative Body of the Church in Wales partly for the '...maintenance and repair of the window in the Parish Church of Llanddeusant in the County of Carmarthen known as the Good Shepherd in memory of my Father and Mother....'' This was accepted 26 January 1950.
