east wall of the presbytery

The window was commissioned in November 1881, in memory of the officers and men who died in the South African campaign. It was installed by April 1882, although newspaper reports attribute it to Messrs Corner & Co., whose superintendent was a Mr Hole (South Wales Daily News, 14 April 1882; The Cardiff Times, 15 April 1882).

The military themes reflect the nature of the memorial, which were intended to be 'illustrative of the soldiers' duty' The Cardiff Times, 12 November 1881).
