1886 Two-light window with two scenes designed across the lights, with their biblical texts underneath them. The upper scene shows Zacharias kneeling in the right-hand light with an angel in the left-hand light. Below, John the Baptist stands preaching to a small crowd, with Christ standing to the right. Kempe Church of All Saints, Newbridge-on-Wye south wall of the nave Text with upper scene: 'The angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.' (Luke 1: 13-14). Text with lower scene: 'The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.' (John 1:29-30). The window effectively echoes the adjacent window of the Annunciation to Mary and the Adoration of the Shepherds, as the revealing of the new-born Christ to the shepherds is mirrored by the revealing of Christ as the messiah by John the Baptist to his followers.  (ObjectID=4957 ImageID=9573) Original File Name=Newbridge-on-Wye_DSC7538A.jpg
