Christ with Children and Disciples

about 1905-1915 Two-light window. In the left-hand light Christ is shown in a group blessing a child, while in the right-hand light he stands amid a group of listeners with the text 'Come unto Me' below. Angels below with text and above shields representing sincerity, purity and patience. technique: stained glass firm/studio: Robert J. Newbery Church of St Elvan, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taff west end of the north aisle Although there are now eleven windows in the church by the maker, this is the only one that appears to be signed by Robert Newbery. Text below scene in the left-hand light: 'For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven' (Matthew 19: 14, Mark 10:14, Luke 18:16). Below the angels hold the text 'Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and for ever' (Hebrews 13:8). Inscription: 'To the Glory of God and in grateful remembrance of His loving kindness and Mercy'. This appears to be a set with two other windows on the north side of the church, all by Newbery, the other two of which were given by W.T. Lewis. Perhaps this was given at a similar time, or perhaps all three were given at the same time by the donor, the only date given being that on the 'Captains of Industry' window, of 1913,  (ObjectID=4575 ImageID=8570) Original File Name=Aberdare_DSC8573A.jpg
