firm/studio: Ward & Hughes

Church of St Cadfarch, Penegoes, Powys
east wall of the chancel

Attributed to Heaton Butler & Bayne in The Buildings of Wales: Powys but the style is clearly that of Ward & Hughes. A newspaper report in the Cambrian News & Merioneth Standard, 2 November 1877, also names the maker.

Given by friends in memory of Anne Pughe (died 1874) and her daughter Maria Jane Pughe (died 1872). Both were benefactors of the new church and school. The window and its neighbour in the south wall were both present when the church was re-opened after restoration on 25 October 1877.
