about 1872 Fireplace and hood depicting three angels under canopies, with the figures of Abraham and Sarah at either side, with oak leaf decoration. The inscription in Greek reads "Entertaining Angels Unawares'. technique: carved, painted designer: William Burges patron: John Patrick Crichton-Stuart artist: Thomas Nicholls Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Private Dining Room The design of the chimney-piece shares similarities with that at Burges' Tower House in London, also carved by Thomas Nicholls.
