Two single-light windows either side of an abstract dorsal painting.

technique: stained glass, painting

designer: John Piper
artist: Patrick Reyntiens

Church of St Mary, Swansea
Chapel of the Holy Trinity

The artist was first approached for a design in April 1963, after Hubert Thomas at Celtic Studios had been asked for designs. Having decided to award the commission to Piper, the church had to wait until May 1964 before he sent more detailed designs, the delay causing some disquiet. The windows were finished by April 1965 and subsequently delivered (and presumably installed) by the Cardiff firm Bristow Wadley.
