about 1827 Two surviving figures from what was presumably a set of four, reset in two newer windows. support: on glass technique: painted Heol Awst, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire Probably from a set of the four evangelists. Matthew bears the traditional emblem of his martyrdom in Ethiopia, and John the chalice (minus serpent) of the legend of his miraculous escape from poisoning. Apart from the extremely fragmentary pieces of medieval glass, it is possible that this is the earliest surviving figurative glass in the county. Stylistically it looks earlier than the 1826 rebuilding, and may be from the original 1726 chapel, re-set here in the vestibule.  (ObjectID=912 ImageID=1709) Original File Name=_MG_4870.jpg
